Advisory Council Updates

The Aviation Advisory Council was created in the fall of 2000.  The council meets bi-annually  for information exchange and to provide feedback and guidance to the Office on Aviation as it relates to aviation issues, both commercial service and general aviation.

The Aviation Advisory Council was created following a recommendation from the Air Service Committee formed by the State Legislative Session of 2000.  The report from the initial Air Service committee suggested that the Iowa DOT create a permanent aviation advisory council to continue to review aviation issues in Iowa.  Appointments to the council are made by DOT Staff.

Members of the council represent commercial and general aviation airports, aviation system users, business and economic development interests, planning agencies, educators and travel agencies. The composition of the council reflects geographical and aviation related industry diversification.  Associations have a standing seat on the council and may rotate their members as desired.  Members at large serve two-year terms.
