Economic Impact Study
Iowa's air transportation system, and the airports that support it,
are very important to the citizens of the state. Iowa airports
provide: connectivity with the rest of the world; facilities for
emergency, medical and military activities; educational and
recreational events; and cargo and agricultural services. Probably
the most prolific aspect of our air system is the economic impact it
provides.
According to a May 2000
Economic Impact Study, performed by Iowa State University research
specialists, Iowa's air transportation system contributes $834
million to the state's economy and supports 9,865 jobs!
